The
Perpetual Help Council is located in the basement of Our Lady of Perpetual
Help Catholic Church at 3730 Broadway in Grove City, Ohio. The Grand
Knight for 2010-2011 is Daniel Osterman. You can contact the Knights by phone at
(614) 277-9907, or by email at webmaster@olphkofc.net.
Our
business meeting is the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8 pm. We also
have a social meeting on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. We meet
in the lower level of the church and our business meeting is preceded by the
praying of the rosary at 7:30 pm.
Our Lady's Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of the month in
the church basement.
The Knights of Columbus are everywhere at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
During weekend Masses, Council
4603 Knights are greeters, lectors, ushers and Eucharistic ministers. We’re
members of the Parish Council, Finance Board, Athletic Association, School
Board, Athletic Association and virtually every other ministry in our
parish.
We man the food tent and other booths
at the annual Summer Festival and volunteer as bingo workers. We coach Our
Lady’s boys’ and girls’ athletic team and sponsor a Boy Scout
troop.
We’ve prepared dinners for OLPH’s altar servers and taken them to Ohio State hockey
and Clippers baseball games.
Tens of thousands of dollars from
our Lenten fish fries have been donated to almost every ministry at OLPH. Our
one-time donation of $250,000 helped finance construction of our church.
Proceeds from our after-Mass pancake
breakfasts help finance the school’s Guardian Angel tuition assistance
program.
Council 4603’s tradition of faith, leadership and service – which continues to this day
– began in 1958. A handful of OLPH’s most prominent men first met to discuss
starting a Knights of Columbus council for our parish on Jan. 16, 1958. At this
organizational meeting, Frank Forest was chosen temporary chairman and Robert
Zwick was chosen temporary financial secretary.
Three
months later – on April 29, 1958 – 23 OLPH men were exemplified as First Degree
Knights and the following day these founders held the council’s first business
meeting. The Rev. Richard Hoch, Our Lady’s pastor at the time, was elected
Council 4603’s first chaplain.
